New Release: Wale – Attention Deficit

leave a comment »

Washington D.C. native, Wale, released his debut album yesterday November 10th. I’ve heard a few cuts from the album and it’s really good material. I’ll be reviewing the album later on and updating this post. He’s been doing a lot of marketing through Twitter and making his rounds on all the talk shows. Even then, as I learned through his tweets, Interscope undershipped the album, even in D.C.. Everyone go support the man and D.C. hip-hop by picking up Attention Deficit is in stores NOW!

You can also get the album at Amazon | iTunes. UPDATE: Tracklisting and MY review after the jump.

01. Triumph (prod. Dave Sitek) 3/5
Wale starts the album with some killer trumpets and kills it with the metaphors.
02. Mamma Told Me 3/5
Classic tale of lessons learned from your mother over great production.
03. Mirrors f. Bun B (prod. Mark Ronson) 4/5
The production is crazy on this one and Wale really rides the beat with a little help from Houston rapper, Bun B.
04. Pretty Girls f. Gucci Mane & Weensey (of Backyard Band) (prod. Best Kept Secret) 5/5
05. World Tour f Jazmine Sullivan (prod.Cool & Dre) 5/5
06. Let It Loose (Inhibitions) f. Pharrell Williams (prod. The Neptunes) 5/5
07. 90210 (prod. Mark Ronson) 4/5
Wale tells a graphic tale of a hollywood wannabe girl who wants to be part of the celebrity dreams.
08. Shades f. Chrisette Michele (prod. 9th Wonder) 3/5
Wale does deep on this song and speaks on the racism within his own culture.
09. Chillin’ f. Lady Gaga (prod. Cool & Dre) 5/5
Wale hooks up with labelmate, Lady Gaga, for this banger. It’s a great radio-friendly track. A fun song.
10. TV In The Radio f. K’Naan (prod. Dave Sitek) 4/5
Wale rides this crazy beat again, 10 tracks in and he’s still killing it. Some real sick metaphors on this one.
11. Contemplate f. Rihanna (prod. Syience) 3/5
This princess RiRi assisted track slows it down and is a tale of the trials and tribulations of relationships.
12. Diary f. Marsha Ambrosius 2/5
This was a bit too slow for me, but a nice R&Bish track with great vocals from Marsha Ambrosius.
13. Beautiful Bliss f. Melanie Fiona & J.Cole (prod. DJ Green Lantern & Mark Ronson) 4/5
Beautiful production on this one and some assists from the lovely Melanie Fiona and 32 bars from the first RocNation artist, J. Cole.
14. Prescription 2/5
Another slow one to finish off the album, but Wale keeps bringing the metaphors.

iTunes Bonus Tracks
15. Center of Attention (Artistic Integrity 2)
16. My Sweety
17. Be Right
