Common’s Finding Forever IN STORES TODAY

G.O.O.D Music in the building! I recommend everyone go out and support Common and REAL hip-hop by picking up Finding Forever today. On his latest LP you’ll find production by Kanye West, DJ Premier, Will.I.Am, J. Dilla (RIP), Devo Springsteen and features from D’Angelo and Lily Allen.

So, I gave the disc a spin yesterday on my way home from work and it’s definitely a good listen all the way through. Now while I love this record, I think there are too many songs directed at the ladies for my taste, but that’s just my opinion. But Common’s been in the game 15+ years and he’s speaking to a different audience now and so it fits. Overall this is much better than anything else out right now.

1. Intro - weak intro, really a waste of space (0/5)
2. Start the Show - this is a banger with nice production and a hook from Kanye, btw, is he dissing 50? (5/5)
3. People - another banger, Common is the peoples champ on this one, lyrically he’s on point (5/5)
4. Drivin’ Me Wild featuring Lily Allen - a very chill song about relationships with a catchy hook from Lily Allen (4/5)
5. I Want You - production by Will.I.Am, kind of a tripy song, not bad tho, might need a few spins to grow on you (3/5)
6. Southside featuring Kanye West - Com & ‘Ye rep southside hard on this one and it’s another classic (5/5)
7. Game - a banger with a collabo of Kanye & Premo on the production, what else can you ask for (5/5)
8. U, Black Maybe - one of Common’s more conscious songs about the struggle minorities face not only from other races but their own (3/5)
9. So Far to Go featuring D’Angelo - production by the late and great J Dilla and surpise appearance from D’Angelo (3/5)
10. Break My Heart - this is a cleaver love song (3/5)
11. Misunderstood - great production by Devo on this one and Common once again spits fire, I love the Nina Simone sample (4/5)
12. Forever Begins - a real mellow end to the album (3/5)
